SUGAR LAND, TX — Texas convenience store giant Buc-ee's filed a trademark lawsuit Wednesday against a Sugar Land man, claiming his Buky's convenience stores are too similar to its logo. The stores in question are located in Rosenberg and El Campo. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, alleges Buky's "copied and usurped trademarks that make Buc-ee's stores and goods and services immediately identifiable and unique." The suit accuses the convenience store of using a font similar to the Buc-ee's brand that combine with the name to make the Buky's logo "confusingly similar." Live in Sugar Land? The alleged infringement is "likely to cause confusion in the marketplace and dilution of Buc-ee's trademarks," the lawsuit states. Buc-ee's is seeking an injunction against further infringement of Buc-ee's trademarks, an award of the defendant's profits and damages to Buc-ee's and the removal of all references to Buky's, according to the lawsuit.
