This community event will bring families from different backgrounds together to share and celebrate our cultures and nationalities. There's still time to share your thoughts! Residents are invited to complete a Community Survey on how you envision San Ramon evolving over the next two decades. The survey contains 30 short questions, should take about 15 to 20 minutes to complete, and is available online until Sunday, October 31. To learn more about the General Plan update, visit PlanSanRamon.com. > Respond to Community Survey Free Online Bike Safety Courses from 511 Contra Costa Learn skills and gain confidence for safer biking on city streets. Learn the rules of the road to become a safer cyclist (and driver). 511 Contra Costa is hosting a free online class which will include tips and techniques for using your bicycle confidently for everyday trips, errand-running, and commuting to work or school. The instructor will demonstrate simple bike adjustments for safety and comfort, basic handling skills for confident starting, stopping, turning, and riding, and easy ways to remember where to ride on the street between and through intersections. You'll learn how to take your bike on BART and use transit bus bike racks, and hear about other local resources for in-person and on-bike learning and practice. Presentations are led by a certified League of American Bicyclists instructor, and classes will be held on Wednesday, October 20 and Saturday, October 23. > Learn More and Sign Up > Register for Wednesday, October 20 at 6:30 p.m. > Register for Saturday, October 23 at 10 a.m. Resident Survey on Contra Costa Animal Services In their efforts to provide the services Contra Costa County residents most desire of their Animal Services Department, Contra Costa Animal Services (CCAS) is soliciting feedback about what services residents would like prioritized. Please take a few minutes and complete the brief survey below to help CCAS make informed decisions about their services. > Respond to Survey CA Eviction Moratorium Ended; Rent Relief Still Available for Tenants and Landlords The State of California's eviction moratorium expired on September 30, and the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors voted not to extend the County's eviction moratorium for small businesses and residents. Newly enacted State law has provided significant rent relief for tenants and landlords, and new protections for tenants. Contra Costa County was awarded $147,427,324 in Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) dollars between two rounds of funding and has partnered with the State to operate the ERAP program. New evictions protections took effect on October 1, 2021 and continue through March 31, 2022 in the following circumstances: A household with unpaid rent must show proof it has applied for rent relief and are waiting to find out if assistance will be approved. Prior to a Landlord filing a complaint to initiate eviction proceedings with the Court, the Landlord must have submitted a completed application for rental assistance on behalf of the Tenant and the application must have been denied. The Court is not allowed to issue judgement until it finds: A Landlord completed their application for rental assistance prior to filing the complaint; AND The Landlord's application was denied because: How to Apply Renters and landlords can find out if they're eligible and apply for rent/utility relief directly at HousingIsKey.com. If you don't have access to the internet and have questions, need help determining if you are eligible, or to apply, you can call the CA COVID-19 Rent Relief Call Center, 1-833-430-2122.
