Press release from the San Antonio Public Library: Andrew Crews 30 September 2021 1936 Alamo Plaza is decided upon as the location for the cenotaph honoring the Alamo heroes. 1965 City Council today renamed the 3-block-long Nacogdoches Street to Bonham Street, as recommended by the City Planning Commission. Nacogdoches Street runs in front of the Crockett Hotel, and there is a Nacogdoches Road in the north part of the city. 1981 The last official run of the Amtrak Inter-American pulls out of the Laredo station at 5:56 a.m. heading for San Antonio and points north. The end of Amtrak service south of San Antonio breaks the final passenger train link between the United States and Mexico from which the Inter-American got its name.
