The first annual New Roots Theatre Festival is two day cultural performing arts festival on Saturday, October 16 and Sunday, October 17 that represents the global community in the Bay Area and celebrates artistic works dedicated to stories of Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) and marginalized identities.
Produced by the San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Company, SFBATCO is presenting three of its own original projects alongside unique performance pieces developed by five Bay Area theatre and arts Legacy Organizations that include: AfroSolo Theatre Company, African-American Shakespeare Company, Cuicacalli Ballet Folklorico, Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, and PUSH Dance Company. All festival performances are at the Brava Theater Center, 2781 24th St., San Francisco 94110.
Audience members can purchase tickets to create their own experience from a selection of eight performances on two stages over two days. The festival program consists of four (4) Performance Blocks. Each one hour Block contains two (2) performances that are thematically linked. Choose between a 1-Block Package ($20), a 2-Block Package ($30) or a 4-Block Package ($50).
