Skateboarder Hurt In Collision With Car Near Ocean Beach

SAN DIEGO, CA — A skateboarder was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries after colliding with a vehicle on Nimitz Boulevard in Ocean Beach, police said Tuesday. A 27-year-old man riding a skateboard was hit by a car forcing the closure Nimitz Boulevard between West Point Loma and Sunset Cliffs boulevards at around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, according to the San Diego Police Department. Police said a 63-year-old man was driving southbound on Nimitz Boulevard, approaching a green light at the intersection of Nimitz and West Point Loma Boulevard. The skateboard rider was heading northbound on Nimitz, when he entered the intersection and turned westbound against a red light in front of the driver, and was struck, police said. Police confirmed the skateboarder was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, but had no update on his condition. Traffic investigations were handling the investigation. — City News Service
