The weekend festival commemorated one of the most important holidays in Asian culture, which celebrates the end of the autumn harvest. Around 45 different vendors participated in Saturday's festival. Elk Grove continues to look at new options for addressing homelessness and is participating in regional efforts focused on housing and healthcare. If you're in districts 2 or 3 and are interested in helping out, or have some ideas to share, you are invited to attend a virtual town hall meeting on October 5. The meeting will provide an opportunity for staff from the City's Housing and Public Services Division, Code Enforcement Division, Elk Grove Police Department's Homeless Outreach Team, and Cosumnes CSD to present information to the public on how affordable housing and homeless strategies are implemented. Questions and feedback from the public are encouraged. (elkgrovecity.org)Two Folsom siblings held a honey of an event over the weekend. Twelve-year-old Janae Drummond and her 7-year-old brother, Andrew Widders, have been selling local honey and donating a portion of the profits to Caldor Fire victims. Over the weekend they had a honey stand in the Parkway and donated 25% of all proceeds to the fire victims. "Our cabin almost got burned down in Strawberry but the firefighters were able to save it. We wanted to support the people who did lose their cabins and their homes," Janae said. For anyone wanting to buy honey from Janae and Andrew who didn't make it to Sunday's stand, you can contact their mother, Denise Widders, at 916-337-9938 or email at [email protected]. (Folsom Telegraph)Sacramento is becoming less and less affordable. That fact prompted at least one Sacramentan to take Tulsa, Oklahoma up on its offer to move there. Tulsa is recruiting Californians and others by offering $10,000 for people who move there and work remotely through the Tulsa Remote program and Amnoni Myers, a child welfare consultant from Sac is headed to Tulsa as part of the program. Tulsa Remote spokesperson Meredith Rasnic told ABC10 that 179 of its more than 1,000 participants have moved to Tulsa from California. She said many are coming from the Los Angeles area. The Tulsa Remote program is a one year commitment. Hopefully, anyone in Sacramento that takes Tulsa up on it will find that this area has unique charm and they'll be back, but Rasnic told ABC10 that more than 90% of the Tulsa Remote members have stayed in Tulsa beyond their one year.
