Capital Metro Offering Free Rides In October

AUSTIN METRO, TX — Capital Metro will be offering free rides to passengers throughout the month of October, officials announced Friday. Austin's regional transportation agency will offer free fares for all services except MetroBike from Oct. 1 through Oct. 31. CapMetro said the decision was made in order to thank customers as the agency works to mitigate service impacts that have resulted from staffing shortages. Live in Round Rock? On Sept. 19, the agency said it made schedule changes that primarily involve how often individual routes operate, though a few routes have been suspended at least through the end of the year. Despite those service impacts, CapMetro wants to encourage travelers to use public transportation.
