Description
TAMPA, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol is seeking information on the carjacking at gunpoint of two good Samaritans who stopped to aid two men involved in a traffic accident Tuesday.
Troopers were called at 7:30 a.m. to the southbound lanes of Interstate 75 in Hernando County after a driver lost control and struck a barrier wall.
When they arrived, troopers discovered that two people traveling south on I-75 had stopped to help the driver and his passenger, a Black man and a Hispanic man, when they pointed a shotgun at them and forced their way into the good Samaritans' car.
The two men ordered the good Samaritans to drive them to 138th Avenue and 19th Street in Tampa where they released them unharmed.
The good Samaritans contacted the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Both the highway patrol and sheriff's office tracked the carjackers to Lakeland before losing their trail.
Anyone with information about this carjacking is asked to contact the FHP at 813-558-1800 or Tampa Bay Crime Stoppers at 800-873-TIPS.
