Compounder Small cosmetic manufacturer is looking for a compounder/pre-weigher. 2+ years experience preferred. Responsibilities include making batches, cleaning tanks and pumps, preweighing batches, doing physical counts, putting incoming raw materials away and assisting the rest of the compounding/production team in any way possible. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and must be able to drive a forklift. Must be able to speak and read English and must be accurate in counting. After 90 day probation, holidays, vacation and medical. Full Job Duties: o Ensure production batches are compounded in a timely manner, to the highest quality, and according to GMP. o Ensure production batches are pre-weighed accurately and according to GMP. o Ensure production area is safe according to Verde’s safety codes and that employees are following those codes. o In addition to pre-weigh and compounding, duties include cleaning tanks and pumps, transferring batches, weighing drums, cleaning floors and drains, etc. o Ensure products are made in a timely manner according to the schedule or direction of management. o When needed, work with management to make improvements in service of any of the above goals. This includes suggesting procedure changes, requesting equipment, disciplinary action, etc. o Remove from quarantine area regularly and properly store raw ingredients in the correct storage area o Carry out Physical Inventories when instructed to by management, usually on Monday morning. o Maintain inventory list with locations and part numbers. o Update and maintain equipment and maintenance logs o Clean and sanitize all pieces of equipment used in the manufacturing of cosmetic products after use, including tanks, high shear pumps, hoses, etc. Any equipment not used immediately after sanitation must be covered o Alert upper management of any equipment or ingredient that is not compliant with cGMP o Log the lot number and weight of each pre-weighed ingredient on the batch card as well as on the container of pre-weighed ingredient itself o Wear proper safety attire at all times. o Make sure that the equipment used for compounding have been cleaned and sanitized prior to use o If deionized water is used, the compounder should check that the Duobed deionizer is working properly by making sure that the sensor indicator light is green before using the water o Sign off each ingredient as it is added to the batch following the specific instructions on the batch card. Communicate with Chemist on complicated procedures. o Once the batch is complete, a sample is given to Chemist/QC Tech for initial batch QC and adjustment, if any, are made o After final QC by QA Manager is approved the product is transferred from the tank to lined 55-gallon drums and awaits filling o Track batch yield by accurately weighing drums and labelling bulk storage properly with lot numbers, product code, drum weight, compounding date, and total batch weight o Coordinate with production manager to make flow of finished bulk to filling smooth and efficient o Compounders are expected to be able to lift up to 55 lbs. o Compounders must wear steel-toed boots, safety glasses/goggles, and a hairnet. o Every moment of every work day use common sense and refer to protocols and management to maintain the safety of yourself and others. This includes using proper safety gear, practicing forklift safety, etc.
