First, today's weather: Clear throughout the day. High: 90 Low: 58. Here are the top stories today in Sacramento: Sac Metro Fire responded to a house fire Thursday morning on Madison Avenue. An explosion was reported at the fire. No injuries have been reported. The fire is being investigated for arson. (ABC10)President Joe Biden will visit Sacramento on Monday ahead of a recall campaign event with Gov. Gavin Newsom in Southern California later in the day, the White House said. The announcement said that Biden would survey wildfire damage but did not list more details. The visit comes one day before Californians cast their ballots in the recall election. (KCRA3) A Sacramento woman who was working from home got an unexpected "visitor." Shannon (who didn't want to share her last name) heard a knock at her door. The man at the door covered her Ring video and, as Shannon was walking to the door, he broke it in. The homeowner screamed and scared the burglar away. He has not been apprehended and the neighborhood is still in shock. Officers have been assigned to the case and police say this is an active investigation. (CBS Sacramento) Some parents in the Sac Unified School District's independent study program say their children have yet to receive learning materials or instruction since the school year started. According to an email sent to parents, another 23 teachers are needed to support 1,200 students currently in the program. District officials say the delays come after failed negotiations about the program with the union representing Sacramento's teachers. (ABC10) A UC Davis climate professor explains why our water and fire situation in Northern California may be changing. He says we are getting the same amount of precipitation, or even more in some places, than normal, but it is coming in a more compressed timeframe, so our hot weather season is becoming longer. He says if we look at Bakersfield, in Southern California, we can see our potential future with dryer hills and fewer trees.
