(KCRA3)Taking advantage of federal and state funding, the city now has 370 motel rooms on contract, providing shelter and stability to 470 people experiencing homelessness. Many of the people staying in these motels are families with children, and in some cases, people escaping from domestic violence. The stability a motel room offers can be especially important to school-age children, many of whom have been returning to in-person class this week. Motel rooms may not be a permanent solution, but for a lot of people experiencing homelessness, they can lead to long-term housing. (Sacramento City Express)A Grass Valley man remains in custody without the eligibility of bail and is now facing felony DUI charges after the Folsom resident he struck on Aug. 18 at a popular Folsom park did not survive. Police received a 911 call that a vehicle had struck a pole after it left the roadway and entered BT Collins Park. A male, later identified as Anthony Michael Espinosa, 31 of Grass Valley, then reportedly got on the phone and told the dispatcher he had struck a person with his vehicle. Espinosa remained on the scene until officers arrived. (Folsom Telegraph) Monday's events in Sacramento: Four Barrel will be at Swabbies on the River.
