Even our NATO allies saw the value of having a forward base in Afghanistan, the history of the Taliban nurturing likeminded jihadist like Al Qaeda and now ISIS all who are terrorists demonstrated the geopolitical importance of Afghanistan to keep them in check. Trump's deal even and mostly like unfulfillable by the Taliban laid the groundwork for a smaller US military presence while insuring massive military strike capability if necessary. Dealing with terrorists you first have to put the fear of Allah in their heads before you can hope to come to an agreement. Maybe if Democrats weren't trying to impeach Trump based on falsehoods he could have concluded a deal for a US exit in Afghanistan sooner giving it full attention. As for Jan 6th, that was no insurrection as you like telling us it was, even the FBI weeks ago confirmed it wasn't and no one has been charge with that crime. What the Taliban has done in Afghanistan, that's an insurrection, they toppled a government with the threat of force. Unfortunately you're too biased to appreciate the difference, to you it's a slogan. Okay, here's a little lesson on how Trump worked. Oh right, he didn't. And I think the point is, he made a deal that he knew we couldn't do even if he were still president. Then again he's broken many deals in his life. It's funny he couldn't find the time to make this happen when he was in office but he'll criticize the operation. As of the 21 of Jan. this year, Trump was no longer president. His term was over and his ability to govern was gone, transferred to the new president who unfortunately is joe biden. Once a president leaves office, he is no longer able to lead our country or to make sure his policies are fulfilled. Not sure how you seem to know so that President Trump had no plan as to how to leave Afghanistan.
