SAN DIEGO, CA — Search and rescue efforts were underway Tuesday after a U.S. Navy helicopter crashed off the coast of San Diego.
The MH-60S helicopter crashed at 4:30 p.m. while "conducting routine flight operations" about 60 nautical miles off the coast, according to the Navy. The helicopter was embarked aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln.
Multiple Coast Guard and Navy air and surface resources were searching the area, according to the Navy.
