HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL—For the sixth consecutive weekday, Hillsborough County Schools have more than 300 new COVID-19 cases among the student population.
On Monday, the district reported an additional 365 students and 75 employees have tested positive. In total across the district, there have been 3,556 reported cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of August. Of these cases, 2,786 are students and 770 are staff.
Overall, 11,675 staff and students are required to isolate or quarantine.
Last week, the Hillsborough County School Board voted to mandate masks at district schools until mid-September, in defiance of Governor Ron DeSantis's executive order.
