ROUND ROCK, TX — Are you looking for a new job? Round Rock police is seeking to hire full-time 911 dispatchers by the end of August. Dispatchers will earn between $18.47 to $23.09 an hour and are tasked to answer, process and enter 911 emergency and non-emergency calls for service into the Computer Dispatch system for service dispatch for the department, according to the online job description. The position is considered safety sensitive and requires an in-depth background investigation and drug screening. Those interested in applying must apply online by 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31. Police said to be eligible for the position, individuals must have a high school diploma or an equivalent of one year customer service experience involving one or more of the following: heavy phone contact; data entry/form completion; complaint resolution; processing order/inquires.Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. (Must type at least 45 WPM)Certificates and Licenses Required (TCIC/NCIC Certification within six (6) months of employment.; Required to complete 80-hour Basic Telecommunicator Course to obtain Texas Commission on Law Enforcement License within one year of employment; or be able to obtain, Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Training.or be able to obtain, Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Training.)Maintains license & certifications; complete required training hours mandated by state and department; strict adherence to Federal, State and Departmental regulations regarding Criminal Justice Information Systems.Valid class C Texas driver's license, or ability to obtain license prior to employment.Individuals must also have the ability to work shift work, including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
