OCOTILLO WELLS, CA — Nearly a half dozen earthquakes struck Wednesday near Ocotillo Wells, with the largest measuring a magnitude 4.o, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quakes that began shortly after 11 a.m. were centered about 5 miles southeast of the sparsely populated desert community that is popular with off-road enthusiasts.
The largest quake, a magnitude 4.0, was reported at 2:45 p.m. and was followed five minutes later by a magnitude 3.8 temblor, according to the USGS.
No injuries or significant damage were reported.
