SARASOTA, FL—New traffic patterns are scheduled to begin August 13 at U.S. 41 and Gulfstream Avenue as the Florida Department of Transportation continues constructing a new roundabout. In the case of bad weather, construction may be delayed. According to the city of Sarasota, there will be no movement through the intersection while construction is taking place. The city says the shift to the new traffic pattern is expected to take several days; crews will work both day and night. Here is a list of the new traffic pattern movements: Traveling east from barrier islands towards U.S. 41 north (eastbound to northbound), travel east on Gulfstream Avenue, follow new traffic pattern along the curve to turn left at the intersection onto U.S. 41 north.Traveling east from barrier islands towards U.S. 41 south (eastbound to southbound), travel east on Gulfstream Avenue, follow new traffic pattern along the curve to turn right at the intersection onto U.S. 41 south.Traveling east from barrier islands towards downtown (eastbound through), travel east on Gulfstream Avenue, follow new traffic pattern along the curve to go straight through the intersection.Traveling south on U.S. 41 towards barrier islands (southbound to westbound), travel south on U.S. 41, follow new traffic pattern, turn right at the intersection onto Gulfstream Avenue west.Traveling north on U.S. 41 towards barrier islands (northbound to westbound), travel north on U.S. 41, follow new traffic pattern along the curve to go left at the intersection onto Gulfstream Avenue west.Traveling north on U.S. 41 towards downtown (northbound to eastbound), use Main Street detour. Travel north on U.S. 41, turn right on Main Street, continue towards downtown.Traveling north on U.S. 41 (northbound through), no through movement at the intersection of U.S. 41 at Gulfstream Avenue. Follow detour via U.S. 301 north.
