Description
PALM SPRINGS, CA — An explosion Wednesday at a Palm Springs hotel injured one employee and set a first-floor room ablaze, causing structural damage to the building, the Palm Springs Fire Department reported.
The blaze was reported at around 11:50 a.m. in the 400 block of East Palm Canyon Drive. KESQ reported that the incident was at the Caliente Tropics Hotel on 411 E Palm Canyon Drive.
Fire crews dispatched five engines and one medical squad and were able to contain the blaze as of 12:15 p.m.
Fire officials said one hotel employee was hurt in the explosion and was being examined by medical crews at the scene.
Officials said the building would be examined to determine the severity of the damage.
The cause of the explosion was under investigation.
