Description

FAIRFAX, CA — The town of Fairfax is going all in on all electric home construction. Fairfax's five-member Town Council at its Aug. 4 meeting unanimously approved an ordinance requiring new homes to be all electric. The ordinance followed the town's Climate Action Committee request in early February for the requirement. The council at its April 21 meeting directed staff to prepare an all-electric ordinance. The ordinance, which goes into effect March 1, applies only to new residential and commercial buildings, and exempts commercial kitchens. The ordinance does not apply to some projects such as affordable housing developments and exemptions will be made available to applicants who demonstrate that a building can't meet Title 24 Building Efficiency Standards, town officials said.
