Seeking musicians for stoner/progressive sludge/doom band
Meets
San Diego CA
Description
Hi there, I’m a rhythm guitarist looking for experienced, creative, like-minded musicians to start a sludge/doom band with. I’m in a couple of other bands at the moment (both based in Washington, DC, where they were formed; linked below) but I’m looking to start a band in San Diego (where I currently live) to gig locally, regionally, and eventually tour with, as well professionally record with. I’m currently located in North Park so proximity is a plus, as well as familiarity with the local metal scene, rehearsal spaces etc. Specifically, I'm looking for a lead guitarist (also comfortable playing rhythm guitar), a bassist, and a drummer. Must be comfortable playing at both ends of the sludge tempo spectrum (i.e. crust-punk/stoner-thrash and low and slow stoner doom grooves). I’m also seeking a singer and lyricist, preferably someone comfortable doing both genre-appropriate clean and harsh vocals, although I think the harshes will be more important for this project. Ideally, this role would be filled by one of the above positions but I’m open to the idea of a standalone singer if the fit is right. I’m open to the idea of a keyboardist/synth player who feels they can add an appropriate layer of atmosphere to the project. I’ve written a fair amount of material for this project and am looking for musicians who would be comfortable both refining, editing, and helping to craft a cohesive sound around this material as well as writing/contributing new material. Primary influences include High On Fire, Yob, Rwake, Bison, Electric Wizard, and Vokonis. Additional influences/references for the project include Sleep, Weedeater, Adzes, Bongripper, Oryx, Kylesa, Domkraft, Windhand, Cough, and Acid King. Must have your own gear and must be vaccinated. Personality-wise, I’m looking for people who are good-natured, reliable, and ambitious (I have a full-time job and am balancing a couple of bands so nothing too time intensive but would like to make steady progress towards gigging and recording without too many interruptions/delays). If the above sounds like it’s your jam, please hit me up!
