My name is Bowen Wang. I am a PhD student in Education conducting research on a novel spelling exercise of hard-to-spell English words with my advisor, Professor Anne Cunningham ( https://gse.berkeley.edu/anne-e-cunningham). Your children are eligible if they are: • in grades 3-7 • native speaker of English The study is entirely online via video calling software. Your child will be invited to participate in 2 sessions. Session 1 (35-45 minutes): basic background survey + spelling exercises Session 2 (35-45 minutes): exercises on English sounds, word reading, and vocabulary. Your child can choose a $5 gift card from Roblox, Burger King, Cold Stone Creamery, or Starbucks after completing the study! We will provide you with a report of your child’s performance.
