MURRIETA, CA — A woman who is charged with grand theft following her alleged pilfering from a La Cresta porch is due in court next week for a felony settlement conference.
Brianne Comer, 34, of Perris is charged with one felony count of grand theft and one count of misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance. She has pleaded not guilty to both charges.
A felony settlement conference is standard protocol and involves attorneys from both sides negotiating a resolution to the case in front of a judge. Comer, who is free on bail, is set to appear Tuesday.
According to a July 21 report from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff's Station, deputies responded to a call in early June about a previous porch burglary at a residence in the 37000 block of Via Baya in La Cresta. The community is situated in unincorporated area just west of Murrieta.
During the investigation, deputies determined Comer had stolen numerous packages off the home's front porch on May 27. The items were valued at approximately $1,500, according to the sheriff's station.
Comer was eventually identified as the suspect through surveillance footage and arrested July 20 at her Perris home, according to the station.
"Comer was interviewed and provided evidence depicting her involvement in this incident. Comer eventually admitted to the theft. The packages taken were found discarded at the residence," the sheriff's station said.
