Backyard Bees and Butterflies - Building Habitats for our Endangered Honey Bees and Monarch Butterflies Robin Jones is a bug nerd and the lead garden girl and beekeeper for Honey Girl Grows. Her company consults, designs, builds, installs, and tends culinary gardens and pollinator projects for home cooks, restaurants, corporate headquarters, and world-famous resorts. Honey Girl Grows has grown literal tons of rare heirloom tomatoes and edible flowers for chefs, raised hundreds of happy healthy beehives, pounds of honey, and thousands of extinction-threatened butterflies with corporate pollinator projects including Red Bull and Snapchat. A multigenerational farmer (her family owns Whitefish Stage organic farm in Montana), and Master Gardener, Robin has over twelve years science-based beekeeping experience mentored under Randy Oliver, the world’s most-published honey bee researcher. Robin is a speaker and educator on organic edible gardening and orchard care, good bugs, pollinator conservation and beekeeping for Cal Poly State University, privately for local gardeners and beekeepers, and across the US. She also teaches farmers and wineries Integrative Pest Management, and designs, installs National Wildlife-certified habitat gardens. Local favorites, Hans and Janine, will perform during the hosted reception.
