SAN RAMON, CA — More than 6,100 in eastern San Ramon were lost power around 10:45 p.m. Thursday, according to Pacific Gas & Electric Co. The outage largely impacted residents in neighborhoods north of Bollinger Canyon Road, from the areas of N. Gale Ridge Road to E. Branch Parkway. Also impacted were some neighborhoods south of Bollinger Canyon and homes along Copper Ridge Drive. Power was restored to all but a few as of 6 a.m. PG&E said it had assigned a crew to assess the outage. It was unclear what caused the outage at the time of this writing. The outage came on the heels of nearly record-breaking temperatures Thursday and a flex alert called from 5 to 10 p.m., during which time Californians were asked to conserve electricity amid a period of high demand and hot weather. Flex alerts are called by the California Independent System Operator Corporation when officials fear the power grid could become overloaded, forcing officials to enact rolling blackouts. Caifornia ISO said late Thursday that the power grid was stable, however, and no rolling blackouts were anticipated. Another flex alert has been called from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. Check here for updates from PG&E.
