SAN RAFAEL, CA — A San Rafael teen was among two people killed in a traffic collision over the weekend, Rohnert Park police said. Lorena Recendez-Martinez, 17, was a San Rafael resident who previously lived in Rohnert Park according to police. Amada Salinas-Agular, 16, was a Los Angeles resident who came to Rohnert Park for the summer and planned to go back to L.A. in the fall, police said. Recendez-Martinez was the driver of the 2018 Mercedes Benz Coup that crashed on Golf Course at Roberts Lake Road Saturday at around 9:25 p.m., police said. The vehicle appears to have veered out of control after striking a curb while negotiating a curve according to police. The vehicle then jumped over the curb and hit two street signs and two trees before it hit a traffic signal and came to rest, police said. The Mercedes appears to have been the only vehicle involved in the collision according to police. The roadway was closed for more than three hours while investigators collected evidence and witness statements, police said. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision according to police. Patch Staffer Maggie Fusek contributed to this report
