Firefighters Halt Brush Fire At Cummings Skyway, Highway 4

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Firefighters halted a vegetation fire Sunday night off Cummings Skyway and Highway 4 in the Rodeo area, near Crockett and Martinez, Cal Fire officials reported. Crews responded around 8:30 p.m. and battled four separate fires that together burned a total of one acre, officials said. The Skyway Fire spread at a moderate rate but there were no reports of structures threatened or damaged. By 9 p.m., forward progress of the Skyway Fire was stopped by firefighters with Cal Fire, Crockett-Carquinez Fire Department and the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District. Two engine crews stayed at the scene to ensure the blaze was fully under control, Cal Fire said. Firefighters are at scene of a vegetation fire on Cummings Skyway and Highway 4 in the Rodeo area.
