SAN DIEGO, CA — All westbound lanes of the state Route 54 at Reo Drive were closed in Lincoln Acres Saturday afternoon after a shot was fired at a vehicle, authorities said.
A shooting occurred at 2:22 p.m. on SR54, according to a California Highway Patrol incident log. The freeway was shut down after a man driving a black Chevrolet Colorado told CHP officers that someone in a white Lincoln Continental shot at his vehicle, then crashed under the Reo Drive overpass nearby.
The four men who were in the white vehicle fled the scene, a witness said.
Officers found a firearm in the white vehicle and said it appeared one shot was fired.The driver of the black vehicle later found a bullet hole in the rear of his vehicle, the CHP said.
San Diego County Sheriff's Department deputies, along with CHP officers, were searching nearby homes for the four suspects.
All lanes were shut down on westbound SR54 due to the shooting investigation, according to Cal Trans San Diego.
It was unclear whether anyone was injured in the shooting. No other information was immediately available.
