ROUND ROCK, TX — The city of Round Rock is considering a grant application Thursday to purchase a dozen electric vehicles. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Government Alternative Fuel Fleet Program grant application will be considered by city council Thursday for the purchase of electric vehicles. If awarded the grant, it would give the city $180,000 to purchase 12 vehicles to add to its fleet and implement charging infrastructure, according to the meeting packet. Chad McDowell, Round Rock general services director, said each vehicle will cost about $12,000 plus an additional $3,000 per vehicle for infrastructure. If council approves the resolution, the application will be signed and sent off to the TCEQ for consideration, officials said.
