A FREE community offering of Activations to honor the 2020 Uprisings, the murder of George & Breonna, & make Art for the Movement! The Art for the Movement Art + Activation will be held at the Akoma Market at Liberation Park In East Oakland. This market is a cntral hub for Black and Brown entrepreneurs to share and build a thriving economy that centers art and culture. Black Culture Keeper cohort will create six different artistic activation stations. Community will engage in facilitated conversations + hands-on artistic activations 1. Performing arts, 2. Literary Arts, 3. 2D visual arts, 4. 3D art/makers, 5. Fashion, and 6. Food & wellness. Organized by the Black Cultural Zone, Spearitwurx, Civic Design Studio, and the BCZs Culture Keepers - an intergenerational network of Black creatives. The Black Culture Keepers is a new network of experienced and emerging creatives that will exchange knowledge and opportunities that preserve and promote the best of Black culture and community, and forward the Movement for community wellness, power building, nourishing creative economies, and Liberation. SPEARITWURX is an Oakland-based organization that inspires inter-generational wellness.We create experiences to transform lives through Cultural Events, Community Convenings, Professional Consulting and Wellness Coaching.Our work is creative, courageous, and inspired by love.
