Habitat For Humanity To Break Ground On New Pasadena Project

PASADENA, CA — San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity is set to break ground June 12 on a new housing development in Pasadena. Called the Howard-Navarro project, the development will see the organization partner with city officials to build two attached single-family homes, according to a statement from Habitat for Humanity. Mortgage costs for a home built by Habitat for Humanity typically do not exceed 30 percent of the homebuyer's income. Prior to the start of construction, the organization will hold a special groundbreaking ceremony prior to mark the occasion. "Groundbreakings are a Habitat tradition that takes place at future home sites before construction commences," the organization said in a statement. "These same lots are where future Habitat homeowners will work alongside volunteers to build the homes they will one day purchase." Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo and Councilman Tyron Hampton are expected to attend ceremony. Because the event will occur prior to California lifting the state's coronavirus restrictions on June 15, attendance at the ceremony will be limited.
