'Hamilton' Returns To Pantages Stage In August, Tickets Available

LOS ANGELES, CA — "Hamilton" returns to live performances in Los Angeles months ahead of schedule, officials say. For 523 days, the Pantages curtain has been held and the stage has been silent, and selling tickets to the regularly sold-out show is a great way for a comeback. Jeff Leob, general manager for the Pantages and Broadway in Hollywood, discussed the journey of getting the theater back up and running following the lengthy closure due to the pandemic. "Our staff has been hard at work over the past 14 months to make sure our community of theatergoers, actors, stagehands, and ushers can safely return and sit shoulder to shoulder in our grand auditorium," he said. "The Pantages is expected to open at full capacity." Leob said the theater would follow whatever Los Angeles County Department of Public Health directives is in place this summer, including wearing masks if necessary. Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test may also be required. "While none of us can perfectly predict the future, the County has been a fantastic partner in helping us prepare for our successful reopening," Leob said. "As we all emerge from the challenges of this past year, we look forward to once again joyously welcoming everyone into 'The Room Where it Happens.' " The long-running show aired with the original cast on Disney+ over July 4 last year, but nothing like seeing the cast perform live. Hamilton returns to the stage on Aug. 17. through Jan. 7, sold on www.ticketmaster.com. Sabrina Sloan, Orange County native, will once again take the stage as Angelica Schuyler in the Pantages Theater performances along with the rest of the "Hamilton" company. Sloan once graced the Mission Viejo High School stage starring in "The Wiz," "Annie," and "Hello Dolly" and returns as a wife, mother, and Broadway star. She reprises her principal lead of Angelica Schulyer in the 2021 leg of the "And Peggy Company" tour, comes full circle. Sloan likened returning to work as "going back to work" and the "first day of school," she said on Instagram before the show was shuttered last year. This is the first time this cast has performed live together, according to Sloan. She was set to open with the show on March 12, the day before statewide stay-at-home orders were mandated. Sloan discussed returning to the stage and being a working mother with NBC4LA. "This is what we love and we are just as excited to see the audience as everyone is to see Hamilton," she said in a live interview. As a working mother, she is ready to retake the stage. "I take off my mom hat, I do warming up and stretching, "It's a very taxing show. There is muscle memory involved, but it's a dream to be able to be a mom and do what I love," Sloan said. "At this point, my kids could do the whole production." No more than eight tickets can be purchased per household, with prices ranging from $55 to $195.
