Description

Press release from the Pleasanton Police Department: May 19, 2021 The Pleasanton Police Department is excited to offer a new opportunity for community members to have their voice heard as part of the police chief's Community Advisory Board (CAB). To promote trust and transparency, the Community Advisory Board will focus on public safety issues and engage in productive conversation with leadership at Pleasanton Police Department. Chief Swing will lead CAB meetings on a monthly basis and discussions may cover topics such as mental health response, use of force, and technology. "The purpose of the CAB is to create and nurture open lines of two-way communication with the diverse groups of our community," said Chief David Swing, "and members will provide insights while weighing in on matters of policy and procedure. It is critical the make-up of the CAB reflect the diversity of our community. Diversity in all areas including race, gender, age, faith, thought, and experience." Membership is open to any individual who lives, works, or owns a business in Pleasanton and is over the age of 18. Members are limited to a two-year term and do not have the power or authority to investigate, review or otherwise participate in matters involving specific police personnel or specific police-related incidents. The CAB is responsible for sharing community concerns, proposing long-term solutions, and advising the department and police chief. We want to hear from community members who seldom engage or interact with the department, and we encourage prospective candidates to apply soon! Starting Friday, May 21, 2021, individuals may apply online or pick up an application at the City offices.
