By Ken Stone, Times of San Diego May 13, 2021 Walk-in COVID-19 vaccinations are now available at 76 Ralphs stores in Southern California and the Central Coast, the grocery company and its Kroger Health division announced Wednesday. As well, Pfizer vaccinations for children 12-15 will be available at Ralphs Pharmacy locations beginning Thursday. Nine Ralphs stores in San Diego County have a pharmacy, a spokesman said. "Readers can check their nearest pharmacy location at www.ralphs.com," he added. Ralphs is offering all three vaccines available under the FDA's Emergency Use Authorization free of charge, but vaccine availability by store location varies, the company said. The San Diego Community College District also tweeted vaccination news. The ability to schedule COVID-19 vaccination appointments will remain available at www.ralphs.com/covidvaccine. Those who schedule online will also be able to select which vaccine they would like to receive based on availability by store location. However, anyone under the age of 18 can select only the Pfizer option. Walk-in vaccine patients are encouraged to wear a short-sleeved shirt, bring their insurance information and identification card where applicable, and are reminded they will need to be observed in a designated waiting area for at least 15 minutes following administration of their dose. For Pfizer and Moderna vaccinations, the appointment will be made for the required second dose when the first dose is administered. Minors ages 16-17 who are eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine do not need to have their guardian present at the time of vaccine administration. However, the pharmacist or technician is required to call to verify consent from the guardian. Minors ages 12-15 will require a parent or guardian to be present during vaccine administration at which time the pharmacist or technician will review their consent form.
