MARIN COUNTY, CA — The Marin County District Attorney's Office on Thursday charged a Tiburon police sergeant with domestic abuse, The Marin Independent Journal reports.
Shane Michael Ford, 50, was charged with spousal battery and inflicting "unjustifiable physical pain or mental suffering on a child" — both misdemeanors — according to the report, which cites the prosecution complaint.
Ford was booked into county jail and released bail on bail according to the report.
He faces up to two years in jail, District Attorney Lori Frugoli told the news outlet.
An incident earlier this year precipitated a three-month probe into Ford according to the report.
Novato police on Jan. 27 responding to a disturbance at Ford's home determined that the victims were grabbed but not physically injured, the report said.
Ford, who has been with the department since 2003, was placed on leave according to the report.
