SAN RAFAEL, CA — Marin County's only professional baseball team will hold its tryouts this weekend. The San Rafael Pacifics will hold a tryout Sunday at noon at Albert Park. The Pacifics are among 14 teams who compete in the independent Pecos League. They are among six teams in the Pacific Division. The other eight are in the Mountain Division. The Pacifics open their season June 9 on the road against the Martinez Sturgeon. They play their home opener the next day against the Monterey Lumberjacks. The reigning champion Pacifics in 2019 won their second straight league title, their fourth title in five years and fifth in seven years. San Rafael was unable to defend its title last year as the league cancelled its season amid the coronavirus crisis.
