PETALUMA, CA — A convicted felon from Rohnert Park who had several warrants out for his arrest in Sonoma and Marin counties was recently apprehended in Petaluma while in possession of guns and drugs, police said. Around 9:45 p.m. Friday, April 9, the Petaluma Police Department got a call about a suspicious person in a suspicious car on Denman Road. The resident called police out of concern because the area was recently vandalized. "After walking around the neighborhood, with no apparent legitimate business, the male got into a second vehicle and left," police said. "A short time later the vehicle returned to the same area in the neighborhood." Officers responded and made contact with the man identified as Andres Marquez, 27, of Rohnert Park. A records check confirmed Marquez was a convicted felon who was on probation for possession of a controlled substance for sale. He also had five warrants out for his arrest, including a felony warrant out of Marin County, police said. In a search of his person and car, officers found Marquez in possession of various amounts of fentanyl and other drugs, and two "ghost guns" with no serial numbers on them, police said. Evidence showed Marquez planned to sell or distribute the drugs, police said. Marquez was arrested on the warrants and on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a concealed weapon in a vehicle, possession of cannabis for sale and possession of a controlled substance for sale, police said. Marquez remained in custody Thursday in lieu of $82,000 bail, according to Sonoma County jail records. He is due in court April 29.
