Press release from the City of Mission Viejo:
April 8, 2021
If you want to meet the friendliest, most outgoing cat at the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center, try Mittens on for size! This 1½-year-old short-hair female is incredibly sweet.
Mittens loves to give headbutts and truly enjoys attention, though she sometimes displays a curious habit called barbering. Barbering is another term for excessive grooming, which cats often exhibit when stressed. As a cat grooms itself, positive neurotransmitters are released by the brain providing a sensation of comfort, and Mittens has been barbering to cope with her new surroundings at the center. She may look a bit disheveled and has some hair loss due to this behavior, but her personality is amazing, and her coping mechanism will cease once she is in the comfort of a loving home.
If you are interested in meeting Mittens, contact 949-470-3045 or apply at cmvas.org.
