REDONDO BEACH, CA — Lifeguards have an important job keeping people safe along the coast — but it's also a very lucrative role, according to a recent Forbes report.
In 2019, top Los Angeles County lifeguards earned up to $392,000, Forbes reports.
Seven lifeguards earned more than $300,000 in the county and 82 lifeguards earned more than $200,000, according to auditors from OpenTheBooks.com.
Acting Chief Lifeguard Fernando Boiteux was ranked the highest-paid lifeguard at $391,971 in 2019. Captain Daniel Douglas was second-highest paid, earning $368,668 between base salary and overtime.
