Press release from the Contra Costa County Public Library: Submitted by CCCL_KaraS April 1, 2021 Join the library as we explore the writer Ernest Hemingway and his enduring Influence. Inspired by the premier of the Ken Burns and Lynn Novick documentary Hemingway: The Man, the Myth, the Writer Revealed premiering on PBS on April 5th, we will be reading the author's early novel The Sun Also Rises.   The Sun Also Rises is a classic example of Hemingway's spare but powerful writing style. The story journeys from the wild nightlife of 1920s Paris to the brutal bull-fighting rings of Spain with a motley group of expatriates. First published in 1926, it is the quintessential novel of the Lost Generation.  You are invited to read along with us through April and participate in our Hemingway Book Club discussion of The Sun Also Rises on Tuesday, May 4 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Zoom.  To register, visit our website at https://ccclib.org/events PBS is hosting multiple conversations with the filmmakers and special guests all through March leading up to the documentary premier on April 5th. To register for upcoming talks or watch the recordings of past events, visit PBS' official site.   Continue Learning:  Explore the world of Hemingway through that of his friends, social circles, and wives. Join the Hemingway Book Club's discussion of "The Sun Also Rises" on April 27th. View Full List This press release was produced by the Contra Costa County Public Library.
