Trump pandered to farmers and rural voters with lip service and lies, but he stabbed most of them in the back. One of the ways Trump hurt farmers is by his trade negotiations with China. Trumps trade deal caused China to fear food insecurity. China does not have enough farm land to feed their population. They rely on the US for many farmed foods. Because Trump spooked China, they found new sources for grain, dairy and meat products. They now buy the bulk of their farmed foods from Russia, Australia and European nations. The price of farmed foods dropped and American farmers are ending up with un sellable surplus rotting on their farms. A second consequence of Trumps trade deal making China food insecure is that China has purchased hundreds of thousands of acres of fame land in Texas. Trump ALLOWED this to occur. Governor Abbott ALLOWED this to occur. China literally owns huge chunks of American farm land. This reduces American food security. This has cost us thousands of American jobs. This has hurt American farmers. Any rural American that supports Trump has not payed attention to all the facts. Trump was a disaster for American Farmers. Hopefully Joe and his administration will be able to fix this.
