Press release from the Sacramento County Government: March 18, 2021 The Sacramento County Department of Regional Parks is pleased to announce that the public draft of the Natural Resources Management Plan (NRMP) for the American River Parkway is now available for review! The public draft will be open for a 60-day review period. Additionally, Regional Parks is hosting four virtual public workshops for the public to review and comment on the plan. These workshops will be held: March 19 at 9:30 a.m. March 22 at 6:30 p.m. March 25 at 6:30 p.m. March 26 at 2 p.m. "We are excited to release the public draft of the Natural Resources Management Plan and host these public outreach meetings," said Liz Bellas, Director of Regional Parks. "Public input has been crucial to the process of developing the NRMP, and we look forward to hearing from the public again before we finalize the plan." The goal of the NRMP is to provide relevant and defensible information to the Parkway Manager so that they can make informed decisions for managing, maintaining and enhancing parkway resources. In general, the NRMP provides a clear understanding of existing Parkway resources, the effects of disturbances such as flood, fire, invasive species and human impacts, as well as opportunities for protection and enhancements. After the 60-day review period and virtual public workshops have been held, comments will be reviewed and a final NRMP will be completed. The final NRMP will be brought to the Board of Supervisors for approval and adoption after the environmental review is completed. For more information on the history and background of the NRMP, visit the Regional Parks website. This press release was produced by the Sacramento County Government.
