MARTalk Concert Series at The MAR St. Pete featuring wildly talented Jazz guitarist and composer, LaRue Nickelson! We are SO EXCITED to announce our upcoming MARtalk Concert Series at The MAR St. Pete! This concert series consists of live performances followed by learning sessions where the Artists share their wisdom on their craft. Our guest artist this month will be the incredibly talented Jazz guitarist and composer, LaRue Nickelson! It will be taking place on Sunday, March 21st from 6 pm until 8 pm and will be a genuinely amazing time! Tickets are only $15 and all proceeds will be going to projectMAR (501C3)! Here is what LaRue will be discussing: "Rhythm is what gives a Jedi his power. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together…oh wait, that’s the force. But, really, rhythm helps all of the other elements of music work together, no matter the genre. As your guide (maybe not a Jedi yet but I have watched all of the Mandalorian) I will help you with some ideas to expand your rhythmic awareness for use in improvising and composition. Joining me will be fellow force sensitives Daniel Navarro on Bass and Dave Hamar on the drums. Together we will demonstrate concepts and play some examples from my original compositions that demonstrate rhythm in action. So grab your light saber and come on down to The MAR St. Pete where we will have you jamming with Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes quicker than you can say This is the way."
