By Chris Jennewein, Times of San Diego February 24, 2021 Iconic California electronics retailer Fry's Elections announced Wednesday it will close all its stores after nearly 36 years in business. The San Jose-based company had operated 31 stores in nine states, including local stores in San Marcos and Serra Mesa. Fry's said it "has made the difficult decision to shut down its operations and close its business permanently as a result of changes in the retail industry and the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic." The company provided the following information for customers: The company was founded in Sunnyvale in 1985 by members of a family that had once operated grocery stores and the new business was based on that model.
